A man has been arrested after two teenagers were found dead at a holiday park in East Yorkshire. Humberside Police discovered the bodies of a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy inside a rental property at Little Eden Holiday Park near Bridlington on Wednesday.

The force was called to the scene following a concern for safety. A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and remains in police custody.

Police investigating carbon monoxide link

Police say they are exploring the possibility that carbon monoxide poisoning caused the deaths. Ch Supt Matt Peach stated the deaths remain unexplained but that this line of inquiry is a priority.

"Whilst we are in the very early stages and the deaths at this time remain unexplained, we are exploring the possibility that they may be connected to carbon monoxide poisoning," Peach said. Further inquiries are continuing.

Emergency services check other properties

In response to the incident, emergency services and partner agencies visited all other properties on the holiday park site. The purpose was to offer safety advice and support to other residents.

Peach said the teams provided "advice, support, guidance and ensure everyone's safety." A police cordon remains in place at the park while investigations continue, and residents will see an increased police presence.

Authorities have described the incident as heartbreaking and are urging the public to avoid speculation. The focus remains on supporting the families of the two teenagers.

"This is incredibly distressing and heartbreaking for the families of the teenagers involved, and they are at the forefront of our minds and actions," Peach said. "I would please ask people to refrain from any form of speculation and to respect their privacy."
