Netflix has cast Mckenna Grace as Daphne in its upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series. The show, titled Mystery Inc., has been greenlit for an eight-episode first season.

Grace's casting was first reported by Deadline. The series is described as a "one-hour drama" that will follow the classic Mystery Inc. gang.

Sarah Michelle Gellar gives her blessing

Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Daphne in two early-2000s live-action films, publicly endorsed the casting. Gellar shared the Deadline report on her Instagram Story with a message of support.

"You are going to be perfect!!" Gellar wrote. She portrayed the character in Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004).

A new take on the classic mystery team

This new series is a fresh attempt to bring the animated franchise to live-action. It will join other recent projects, like the animated Velma series on Max, in reimagining the property.

The show's logline promises a contemporary mystery format. According to Netflix, "each season will tackle a new mystery."
