What is Castlevania: Belmont's Curse?
This is the first new side-scrolling Castlevania game since 2008's Order of Ecclesia for the Nintendo DS. The game is being developed by Evil Empire, the studio behind The Rogue Prince of Persia and the Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC.
Motion Twin, the creator of Dead Cells, is also involved in an advisory role. The game is set in 1499 Paris during a monster invasion, placing its story 23 years after the events of the NES classic Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse.
Gameplay and style
The reveal trailer shows classic 2D action, with players using a whip, jumping across platforms, and utilizing sub-weapons like a throwable cross and flame spells. It features large bosses and environmental hazards.
It is not yet confirmed if the game will follow the interconnected "Metroidvania" exploration style of titles like Symphony of the Night or the more linear stage structure of the earlier series entries.
